GHANAFEST-SOUTH AFRICA 2015X

GHANAFEST is an Entertainment, Trade and Cultural Exhibition, which is organized by the Ghana High Commission, in collaboration with the Ghanaian Community in South Africa, annually. GHANAFEST 2015 is the 5 edition to be held in South Africa.

GHANAFEST is an important cultural event for the Ghanaian Community in South Africa which seeks to showcase and to educate South Africans and other Nationals resident in South Africa about Ghana’s rich cultural heritage.

The event serves to exhibit Ghanaian textiles and clothing, music and dance, cultural artifacts and Ghanaian cuisine. It also aims at fostering unity and a sense of patriotism among Ghanaians in South Africa as well as to promote cultural understanding and deepen the cordial relations between Ghana and South Africa.

This year’s event will take place on Sunday 4th October, 2015 under the theme “TASTE AND SEE GHANA” at the Magnolia Dell Park from 12:00pm. The entire concept is aimed at sharing with the visitors at the event, ‘the tastes, sights and sounds’ of Ghana. It will be an excerpt to entice people to visit Ghana and have a new world of experience.

There will be cultural performances from a Ghanaian Cultural Group (African Heritage Drum Beat) which will showcase dances and cultural displays from regions of Ghana. A South African Group (African Child Dancers) will also perform at the event to showcase the unity and culture of the two countries.

Ghana’s own “Okyeame Kwame”, a hip-life artiste, backed by a Ghanaian live band will entertain and cajole the visitors to the dance floor.

There will be for sale, smart/casual and formal kente clothing for both male and female. Traditional and delicious Ghanaian food and drinks, as well as artifacts etc. will also be available for sale.

There will be opportunity for businesses to take stands/stalls to exhibit their wares for sale and also promote their respective services. (Please contact the Ghana High Commission).

GHANAFEST 2015 will be an event for the whole family. Bring the children along to enjoy a fun day of face painting and bouncing castles, and to expose them to African culture.

GHANAFEST 2015 is proudly sponsored by Old Mutual, Rwandair, Protea Hotel, Glory Computers, Radio 2000 and Mail & Guardian.
